(Luke 9:1) “And he [Jesus] called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal."

There's a fantastic scene in The Chosen based on the above Scripture where Jesus empowers his disciples and sends them out in his Name. We see them all leave the screen, smiling and confident. The camera stays fixed on Jesus, who is likewise smiling—his expression is that of a proud father.

A few seconds later, one of the disciples returns and no longer looks so confident. We see him grab hold of Jesus's hand, and this time, he leaves, taking Jesus with him!

Isn't this what we ALL really want!??

Don't we all want Jesus' physical presence with us? But - it's faith (in Jesus and His Power) that sets the captives free, not hot hands, goosebumps, and definitely not psyching yourself up in tongues!

Acts 1:8 emphasises two things we must understand: (1) The Holy Spirit empowers disciples, and (2) Spirit-filled disciples witness about Jesus worldwide. It is the first point we need to emphasise emphatically because the second will follow automatically, as the greatest need throughout the World today is for the power of the Holy Spirit to pour out from us believers onto the wounded and the lost.

Please pray with me, "Lord, your Word in Acts 1:8 says that You promised Your disciples that they will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them, and they will be Your witnesses. You know my heart, Lord. You know that I have submitted myself to Your Lordship and discipleship. Please help me acknowledge your empowerment and lead me to those you want to minister to through me!" Amen. 🙏
