(Psalm 30:6) “In my prosperity I said, “This is forever; nothing can stop me now! The Lord has shown me his favour. He has made me steady as a mountain.” Then, Lord, you turned your face away from me and cut off your river of blessings. Suddenly, my courage was gone; I was terrified and panic-stricken...”
This reminds me of when I would take our children to the playground. Eventually, they would look across and envy the bigger kids playing on the huge monkey bars and invariably want to join them.
I would try my best to explain that they didn't have enough strength to hang on like the bigger children, but they wouldn't listen... This left me with a big problem. I knew that they could climb OK, but at some point, their strength would fail. So, could I be there in time to catch them when they ultimately fell?
Pride is as pride does! There are many types of pride, but here I will focus on just 3 that attack Christianity:
- Pride of Spirituality
- Pride of Knowledge
- Pride of Power
Each one is insidious in that it proceeds gradually, subtly, to convince us that we are doing great and have no need for the rest of the body. And ALL of them finish with very harmful results! (If we choose not to listen to Jesus, then we are fast becoming our own god...)!
GOD, who created all our hearts, says, “Come to Me, my dear Child, and I will show you how to break free and live! Do your part and trust in Me enough to honour Me.”
