Poverty is made up of multiple angles and touches many (many) shores. It's not just a lack of money; it's also a lack of education, lack of health, lack of information, lack of inclusion and lack of awareness.
As such, the word can easily apply to everything mental, physical and spiritual.
What GOD is saying in his warning to us is that He wants to destroy the excuses in us that are precipitated through fear and our need to apportion blame or fault. Because once we allow this monster to come into our lives, it will move in as a roommate for life!
