I’d finished my lunch at my desk and was chatting about miracles when a man in our office who was not known to ever talk much about anything suddenly joined us and said, “Miracles! I’ll tell you all about Miracles.”
“My son,” … he began, and I remember his voice choking. “He was born with ears and holes in his head, but nothing worked inside; he was quite deaf! The doctors couldn’t do anything and told us that they would try implants when he was around 8 years old; that is when his cranium was strong enough for surgery.”
“It was early December, and there was a Christmas carol service at the church the night before the operation,” he said, “and we all went along just for something to do. At the end of the service, people gathered around my son and prayed for him. It was all very touching.”
“I took the next day off work and went with my son to the hospital. I remember being sat in the waiting area reading my paper when a raised voice came from one of the cubicles, “Nurse, I said, bring me the file on the deaf boy. There’s nothing wrong with this boy; he can hear perfectly!”
“Somehow, I just 'knew' what had happened! Trembling, I watched my son walk out of the cubicle and seeing me, he ran to me. Hugging me tightly, he told me how Jesus had touched him, and he could now hear perfectly!”
