We were discussing this difficult subject during a visit from my friend Julian and his lovely wife Audrey yesterday … when I was first introduced to GOD, time itself seemed to slow right down! I was able to see myself for the first time, who I really was and what I truly looked like in the reflective waters of the beautiful river of His Life.
I was ecstatic and somehow thought that all my troubles would be over forever. I’d never be sick again, money would flow in for everything and anything I wanted, and love would never fade...
Then the world's clock started again, time returned back to normal, the world ground its incessant wheels, and I became aware that in order to see my face again, I had to sweep away the scum of this-worlds quasi reality.
When I lost the business that I’d worked so hard to build and all the peripheral la la that our family subsequently enjoyed, when my wife suffered a terrible haemorrhage and all we could do was to watch as the doctors scratched their heads, when my children were hurting, when I contracted cancer …
The only reason I make this open list is to assure you that our Lord Jesus never left us, NEVER abandoned us (even during my pathetic outbursts of painful expletives). He brought us all through all these and never let us be defeated by what we faced.
Child of the Living GOD, he will save you and never let you be defeated by what you’re facing. NEVER
