(Jesus speaking) “… But when the truth-giving Spirit comes, he will unveil the reality of every truth within you.
He won’t speak on his own, but only what he hears from the Father, and he will reveal prophetically to you what is to come. (John 16:13)
The older I get, the more I realise that our whole belief system is based purely on whatever enforces our desires and will make us 'feel' better – being with this kind of crowd, driving this kind of car, having this kind of partner, etc.
And as we build our pyramid of 'things' ever higher, the winds and storms of life keep on knocking everything down, while all the time, the voice of Jesus swirls around in the wind, “Living apart from me isn’t going to go well for you…!”
And when we (finally) begin to bow our stubborn necks to his truth, Jesus’s Spirit then begins to unveil (pull apart and unpick) all these lies and reveal them to us for what they are, so that we can 'choose' to lose them.
Lord, please help me to listen and act on whatever Your Holy Spirit says - before I cause even more damage... Amen.
