Jesus spoke, and things happened. He didn’t actually carry a Bible and rifle through to find the right words; he simply decided to remain in constant communion with our Heavenly Father, “For I’m not speaking as someone who is self-appointed, but I speak by the authority of the Father himself who sent me, and who instructed me what to say. And I know that the Father’s commands result in eternal life, and that’s why I speak the very words I’ve heard him speak.” (John 12:49)
In the book The Heavenly Man by Brother Yun, a group of young Christian girls leave a prayer meeting in a remote area of China to get back home, and as they travel through the darkening hillside, they are set upon by a rape gang.
Panicking and screaming in terror, one of the young girls suddenly has Psalm 91 come to mind, but as she can’t remember the words, she simply screams out NINETY ONE! At that moment, all the rape gang members freeze like statues!
The frightened girls run back to the prayer place and, accompanied by the elders, return to the spot and release the still-frozen rape gang through prayer. Some of the gang ran away in terror themselves, but some stayed, begged forgiveness and subsequently joined the church.
“I am your only God, the living God. Wasn’t I the one who broke the strongholds over you and raised you up out of bondage? Open your mouth with a mighty decree; I will fulfill it now, you’ll see! The words that you speak, so shall it be!” (Psa 81:10)
