... The religious scholars and Pharisees led in a woman who had been caught in an act of adultery. They stood her in plain sight of everyone and said, “Teacher, this woman was caught red-handed in the act of adultery. Moses, in the Law, gives orders to stone such persons. What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something incriminating so they could bring charges against him. (John‬ ‭8:1)

Sometimes, we can almost skim-read over the Scriptures, and not 'see' (or feel) the truths and realities written there in all their passionate detail.

For example, do we really 'see' a desperate woman, maybe a mother with young children, maybe a widow - so many maybe's!

Anyway, a friend of mine posted a video of the stoning event on FB a while back, and it really filled in some of the visual gaps.

We see a terribly frightened young woman being dragged to the place of execution by some awful bullies, her kids screaming and crying out for her and being held back by the crowd who are lusting for blood.

Finally, after all the presumptuous la la from the Pharisees, Jesus calmly walks forward and picks up a stone seeming as if to measure the weight of it.

Without a sound, he calmly walks down the line of the assembled Pharisees, stopping briefly and looking each of them directly in the eye. Finally, he turns away and kneels alongside the woman. Turning to the religious leaders, he says calmly: “I’ll give my stone to the one that tells me that he’s never sinned!”

Time seems to stand still as eventually, all of the bullies walk away, one after another, beginning with the oldest. The only sound was the woman sobbing. Jesus stood up and spoke to her. “Woman, where are they? Does no one condemn you?”

“No one, Master.” “Neither do I,” said Jesus. “Go on your way. From now on, don’t sin.” (John‬ ‭8:9)

I don't know about you - but it was Grace and not the written Law Code that saved me... and being 'daily' with the Lord of ALL Grace keeps me from the precursive curse of it. Hallelujah!
