(1 Corinthians 11:24) "The Master, Jesus, on the night of his betrayal, took bread. Having given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, broken for you. Do this to remember me.
After supper, he did the same thing with the cup: This cup is my blood, my new covenant with you. Each time you drink this cup, remember me.
What you must solemnly realize is that every time you eat this bread and every time you drink this cup, you reenact in your words and actions the death of the Master. You will be drawn back to this meal again and again until the Master returns. You must never let familiarity breed contempt.
"... you must never let familiarity breed contempt!"
At the risk of this, I have heard a gazillion different preachers expound on this. Each has had a notably different slant, but (and to be honest) all I've really come away with is that being in 'common union’ with Jesus (The Anointed Christ of GOD) is far more important to me (to my very being) than I could ever even begin to understand.
Heavenly Father, please help me see and understand Jesus in the things you’ve given me to help me navigate this life.
Holy Spirit, please touch the heart of whoever is reading this. Draw them into Your presence and show them that You continue to speak and answer prayers today. Amen.
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve those who are sick amongst us—Roger, Alastair, Barbara (has had the 'all clear' so no further treatment. Hallelujah)! Ian, Alex, Alexander, Lynette, James, Keiron, Jay, Liliana, Maria, Susanna, and those you bring to our minds right now... Please grant your healing power to those who minister to all the sick among us so they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
