(Psalm 37 5:6) "Open up before God, keep nothing back; he’ll do whatever needs to be done:"
In 2 Kings 4 the prophet Elisha tells the Shunammite woman who cannot conceive, “This time next year, you’re going to be nursing an infant son.”
The woman conceived. A year later, just as Elisha had said, she had a son. The child grew up. One day he went to his father, who was working with the harvest hands, complaining, “My head, my head!” His father ordered a servant, “Carry him to his mother.” The servant took him in his arms and carried him to his mother. He lay on her lap until noon and died... She then called her husband, “Get me a servant and a donkey so I can go to the Holy Man; I’ll be back as soon as I can.” When she finally reached Elisha, he asked her, "Is something wrong? Are you all right? Your husband? Your child?” She responded with the classically eternal line, “Everything’s fine.”
Of course, GOD knew what had happened, but for whatever reason, He didn't let Elisha in on it. That is until SHE 'finally' opened up and gave the dire news to Elisha (and, by definition, to GOD)!
We’re all great at putting up a front, acting stoically and keeping all our bad feelings locked in. (But look at the damage it does)! They don’t say confession is good for the soul for nothing. It frees us from so much pain – mentally, physically and spiritually.
Resolve not to let all that toxic la la hurt you anymore. Throw yourself at your Heavenly Father's feet, hold tightly to Him, spill out the truth of what's hurting you today, and receive your freedom.
Holy Spirit, please touch the heart of whoever is reading this. Draw them into Your presence and show them that You continue to speak and answer prayers today. Amen.
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve those who are sick amongst us—Alastair, Barbara, Ian, Alex, Alexander, James, Keiron, Jay, Liliana, Maria, Susanna, and those you bring to our minds right now... Please grant your healing power to those who minister to all the sick among us so they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
