(Psalm 85:10) “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.”

I never quite knew why, but I have always had something in my heart for the above Scripture. I always saw it as two conquering generals meeting together on the battlefield after a particularly difficult campaign and then glorying in the victory.

Then, yesterday morning, I read the day's section of the Daily Light, and after almost 40 years of reading it, the penny finally dropped into place. Please bear with me as I share what I saw.

Yesterday’s readings begin with the following Scriptures:

  1. “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them.” (II Cor. 5:19) – followed by:
  2. “It pleased the Father, that in him should all fulness dwell; and, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself”. (Col. 1:19, 20) – and then:
  3. “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” (Psalm 85:10)

As I said previously, the penny dropped, and it became clear to me that we, who have been victoriously fought over and who finally stopped fighting ‘for’ the enemy - who fought tooth and nail to stay in the darkness and finally surrendered our all and welcomed Jesus into our hearts, know only too well the destructive battle that must have ensued over the eternal life our very souls.

And it was our reborn selves who finally looked up from the darkened blood and dust of our battlefield chaos into the blazing light that showered us and came heart to heart with The GOD of all Mercy and His Son, the Lord of all Truth!

The eyes of our living Souls were finally opened, and we watched in awe as Righteousness and Peace kissed each other. And it didn't end there either! We then stood in wonder as the whole of Heaven celebrated in Joy over our victory, and Holy Angels rushed to clothe us in the garments befitting our Salvation…!

Oh, Happy Day! Oh, Hallelujah!

Holy Spirit, please touch the heart of whoever is reading this. Draw them into Your presence and show them that You continue to speak and answer prayers today. Amen. ❤️

Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve those who are sick amongst us—such as Barbara and Ian fighting cancer. We also pray for a quick and complete healing for Keiron, Jay and Liliana. Please grant your healing power to those who minister to all the sick among us so they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏
