(Jeremiah 29:11) “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Consequences of a [Supernatural] relationship with the Holy Spirit. (2)

(Continuing on from yesterday’s message). December 1996 had come and gone, and January was now upon us. We still had no house and no conceivable income to sustain us!

I had procrastinated quite enough! The girls were due to start School on Monday, and my faith had shrunk to about the size of a mouse's kneecap. At that point, my wife took the initiative and said, “Right, come on, everyone, let’s get packed and ready because we’re doing what the Lord has said, and we’re moving down to Sussex!”

We must have looked like the Beverly Hill Billies as we set off on the 260-mile trek down the M1. All the way down the motorway, I was praying (OK, moaning) inwardly. In fact, the only things in agreement were my heart and sphincter, which were banging together rapidly! We weren’t just moving our roots from one metaphorical plant pot into another; we had upped our roots from one pot with no other pot in sight!

We were about 10 minutes from our destination in Horsham and decided to stop off at the Pease Pottage service station off the M23 for a toilet break. While my wife took the kids into the services, I looked around desperately for anything that would constitute a message from the Lord as to where we should go. After a long while of waiting for an Angel, a Prophet, anyone! I whittled down the prayer to just a direction … in fact, I’d accept anything!

It was getting late, so I finally called a local B&B, and they put (all 5 of us) into a single room at (ouch money) per night. We still couldn't find a house and ended up staying there until March when (a) my money had almost run dry and (b) a member of the Church found us a place to stay. The ‘place’ had just been vacated by some poor unfortunates. The front room door had been left splintered open with what looked to be a fist hole in the middle! The plaster walls were almost as bad, the kitchen looked like it hadn’t been cleaned ‘ever’, and the carpets, rugs, floor coverings were full of fleas! We only found this out because there were no beds, so we all had to sleep on the floor, and we all awoke, itching and scratching!

Watching my wife cry (sob) was the final straw. I missed college that day and went off into the woods for a loud scream at GOD! I can’t say I ‘heard’ His voice, but when I got back to the flat, the senior Pastor of the Church had come looking for me. If I hadn’t gone off in a huff screaming at GOD and gone to college as I was supposed to, he’d have let me know they’d found us a lovely (furnished) family home near the college. We moved in that very afternoon! (Sorry again, Lord ...)!

Holy Spirit, please touch the heart of whoever is reading this. Draw them into your heart and show them that You continue to speak and answer prayers today. Amen. ❤️

Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve those who are sick amongst us—such as Barbara and Ian fighting cancer. We also pray for a quick and full healing for Jay and Liliana. Please grant your healing power to those who minister to all the sick among us so they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏
