(Mark 4:38) “And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he (Jesus) was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”

When GOD comes to Church! (7)

Have a chat with anyone who’s been walking with Jesus for longer than a month, and they’ll confirm that there are times when disaster strikes at us, and Jesus seems to be asleep … ! At that point, we can either turn tail and run back to our old hole in the ground, or turn our face Heavenward and hang on to His Promises in Faith!

I remember it being a cold and gloomy Wednesday night as I returned home from a prayer meeting at the College, which was awesome – I really felt that I’d met with the Lord …!

It was around 9:30 pm, and the house seemed a lot quieter than usual. I called out my wife’s name, and she didn’t respond. Thinking that she must be with one of the children, I crept upstairs and peered into each of their darkened bedrooms. I couldn’t see her. In fact, I couldn’t find her anywhere in the house and made my way back downstairs, thinking that she would never go out and leave the kids, when I noticed the downstairs bathroom door slightly open. I called out her name again and pushed on it, but it wouldn’t open any further. I continued pushing until it opened enough for me to stick my head in and saw her lying on the floor unconscious, surrounded by an ever-increasing pool of blood!

Long story short, we ended up in the hospital for over a week while they performed an exhaustive series of dreadful tests on her. She'd lost a terrific amount of blood, was extremely poorly, and kept drifting in and out of consciousness. I must be honest; with the lack of a definitive prognosis, I was becoming increasingly worried. They felt sure that the blood was coming from somewhere within her intestines but needed to do a complete diagnostic procedure, which would visualize the inside of her digestive tract before they could make a conclusion.

She then vomited a lot of horrible black blood! We were praying, the Church was praying, the Senior Pastor and his wife came and prayed for her – at which point my wife ‘heard the words, “The Healing Balm of Gilead.” (Jer 46:11). NB - I asked her just now if she ever remembered the event and she smiled and said, “Of course I do. I was really frightened, and then I heard the Lord really clearly.” I asked her to remind me, and she told me, “Everyone around me seemed so worried, and all I could think of was ‘who will look after my children…?’ When quite suddenly, Judges 6:23 came into my head. I had no idea what the Scripture referred to, so I opened my Bible and read, “…Peace be to you, do not fear; you shall not die.” Everything changed for me at that very moment. No matter what I was feeling inwardly, I held onto the Lord and His beautiful Promise to me for dear life, and when the diagnostic tests finally came back as negative, my faith rose, and I thanked Him all the more.”

In fact, I distinctly remember that as we were leaving the hospital, one of the nurses came into the room as we were packing up my wife's things, and she said, “We know there has been a considerable trauma and substantial loss of blood, but we just can’t see where it all came from. Even the diagnostic tests, which can normally detect ruptures, tears and lesions, haven’t found anything - I don’t know if you believe in miracles, but I’d sure say that this is most certainly one!”

ALL GLORY TO GOD…!!!

Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11) ❤️
