(Exo 6:9) But when Moses delivered this message to the Israelites, they didn’t even hear him—they were that beaten down in spirit by the harsh slave conditions. (Exodus 6:9)
Sometimes, it is hard to listen to hope because of our despondency. Having dared to hope in the past and having been betrayed by that hope, we resolve not to be hurt again. So, we don’t get our hopes up because nothing is as painful as misplaced hope, and we’ve learned that one way to avoid ever being hurt again is to refuse to hope.
The pessimist claims he is just a realist, but despair is not reality. The pessimist's heart says, “I am comfortable in my despondent state, and please don’t try and raise me out of this state because I would rather remain unhappy than risk the chance of further disappointment.”
Such an attitude, however, is the antithesis of faith. If we truly believe in what GOD says He can do for us, we should be incurable optimists—living in constant expectation. If GOD is directing our efforts, then we cannot lose—and when you know you cannot lose, you have nothing to fear because you don’t need to be afraid of disappointment.
My heart screams out to you today that GOD wants to raise our expectations—He wants us to get our hopes up! As we set out to ‘do’ good and ‘be’ good (or at the very least, to do better and be better), then we can rely on GOD’s loving compassion, His promises, and the Power of His Name to break us through the lies of discouragement and into the Truth of His ‘Reality!’
Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11) ❤️
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve those who are sick amongst us, and give your power of healing to those who minister to their needs so that they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏
