God …is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change. (2 Peter 3:9)

Even an amoeba can tell that the world is heading towards the end at a gallop, with everyone being taught to look to themselves and their own selfish interests.

Selfishness rules, and regardless of the ultimate pain it brings to others, “Just do whatever makes you happy” seems to be today’s mantra!

The thing is, selfishness, per se, is the direct opposite of what GOD decreed for us because GOD is love, and love is the antithesis of selfishness.

Jesus speaking, “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?

I heard a preacher once tell a congregation: “Just close your eyes and see all that you have accumulated in your life as multi-coloured balloons on strings. These balloons can represent people, jobs, money, and objects. Now see yourself as approaching Jesus. Look up into his face, his eyes... As you stare into His beautiful face, your fingers will automatically begin to unclench. Any balloons that fly away were never really yours – and any that Jesus catches and gives back to you are yours to keep …”

Lord Jesus, please help me to open my heart, mouth and hands to all that breaks your heart.
