Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be like wool. (Isa 1:18)

I don’t think I’ve ever shared this before … While I was in hospital some years ago in Brighton, an older guy was brought in during the night, seemingly with terrible chest pain, and wheeled into the bed next to mine. I wasn’t thinking much about it, and (I think) I mumbled some prayer for him and tried to go back to sleep when, quite suddenly, I was all awake! As I focussed my attention on him, I saw that the older guy was attended to by lots of young men. (Later, during morning breakfast, the man admitted to his nurse that he was a very active paedophile and that these ‘boys’ were his young treasures).

This recalled a day at church when I was serving at the back and listening to the preacher who was speaking about the damage pornography does. While I listened, a brother surreptitiously approached me and quietly asked me to pray for him to be released. Long story short, the Lord wouldn’t let me pray just then, but instead, I heard myself saying, “If this bannister rail we’re leaning on was your path to pornography, then where do you think you currently are on it? NB – the bannister was only about 1 metre long.

“What do you mean,” he asked? “Well, are you a long way down the path,” I pointed halfway, and he placed his finger almost at the end!

“Are the ladies you’re viewing young or old,” “Young, of course,” he replied. “… I don’t like them old.”

At this point, I heard myself asking, “And are you deliberately wanting them to get younger…?” “What are you asking?” He stammered, jumping backwards as if stung. “You know exactly where this is going,” I said quite emphatically. “Where do you think this demon is taking you?”

“GET IT OUT OF ME!” he hissed! “Well said, I exclaimed. Now we can pray…”

Back to the old man in the hospital bed. They had to move him during that night as his pains had increased to the point where they couldn’t even sedate him anymore for the risk of further damage. I wanted nothing to do with him, yet the Lord kept pushing me to intercede for him. I prayed (reluctantly at first – forgive me, Lord), and as his screams filled the ward areas like nails on a chalkboard, I prayed with greater intent for his soul. At about 3 in the morning, a great silence descended on the ward areas, and I was told later that he had passed away - peacefully.

I guess I’ll never know if he was set free, but I do know that the Lord fought hard for his soul…

As you read this, please don’t judge his paedophilia as being worse than anything else. All sin is equally destructive, and ALL sin assuredly leads to death.

As usual, I asked the Lord what He wanted to say, and He reminded me of this verse, “So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free. … (John 8:36)

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11) ❤️
