Yesterday's story was about following after 'other' gods; today's is about the misuse of power. A while ago, I read a powerful testimony about how a young lady gave herself to witchcraft. She began withdrawing from society and her church at only five years old after her mother began a relationship with a man who began sexually abusing her, and even though she plucked up the courage to tell her church leader and then her mother, they wouldn't listen to her as the man was (in her words) highly charismatic.

In search of protection from this awful predator, she began walking down the rocky road of using spells against him (witchcraft). After finding success in removing the immediate problem, her taste (lust) for this new power propelled her further, proving the old adage that power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Understandably, she couldn't control the demons and began losing her mind, and that's when her friend recommended a therapist - who just happened to be a Christian. She didn't have a problem with this; as in her New Age belief system, she could call god anything she wanted: krishna, buddah, oneness, source - even Jesus!

The bottom line is that even though she knew that calling upon the Name of 'Jesus' was helping her get through her difficult days, she wasn't ready to give up the power she knew she had! So, one night, Jesus showed her in a dream just what she was actually serving (as a witch). In her dream, she was left paralysed as she saw horrible demons in her home and what they were intending ...! She tells how 'something' in her told her to call on the Name of Jesus; as she managed to croak His Name, two opposing forces collided. The evil one with the much more powerful and gentle one. She was convinced then that darkness bowed down to the Name of Jesus, that He IS Lord over everything.

The next day, her Christian therapist helped her renounce the path she had been walking on as a witch and she asked forgiveness for all she had trusted in that separated her from Him. She and her family are now FREE!

As usual, I asked the Lord what He wanted to say, and He led me to these words of Jesus, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” (Mat 28:18)

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11)
