“I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]. (Phil 1:6)
Our sister's encouraging word yesterday stirred me up, so I’m writing this missive to myself today (if you want to appropriate it for yourself, too, then that's your prerogative).
The fight I'm in right now has nothing to do with who I am. I.e. the enemy is not fighting me over my ‘current’ self. He is fighting me to stop WHO I AM BECOMING!
Everything the enemy is throwing at me right now is focused on breaking my character, stopping my breakthrough, and keeping me stuck where I am!
The Lord wants me to draw closer because He knows that on the other side of this battle is a better ‘me’, a stronger ‘me’ – a ‘ME’ that the enemy knows he can’t win against using these tactics!
So, I’m encouraging myself to draw closer to GOD. In Him alone is a place where I can win through trauma, pain, anxiety, stress, and depression. In fact, I should know that whenever I face these evil forces, I'm Gloriously surrounded by the Lord Himself (He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand]. Psalm 91). (See also the prayer of Jesus, “I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but that You keep them and protect them from the evil one.)” John 17:15.
The bottom line is that I am not being healed so that I can go back and better handle trauma, pain, anxiety, stress, or depression! No, I'm being healed SO THAT all the leaky wound holes in my life that ‘trust’ used to evaporate from can be beautifully healed SO THAT I can truly handle the Joy of the Lord and retain His Happiness in my life forever.
As usual, I've asked the Lord what He wants to say to us, and after writing the above, I believe He led me here.
"I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!” So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently say, The Lord is my Helper [in time of need], I will not be afraid. What will man do to me?” (Heb 13:5)
“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11)
