(GOD speaking) “… And I said, ‘You shall call Me, My Father And not turn away from following Me.’” (‭‭Jer 3:19‬)

I was sharing the Lord with someone a while ago, and what they said really got under my skin “You talk to GOD and about GOD as if He were one of us! “He is G O D!!!” they said dramatically.

NB – he spoke the word "G O D" with suitably pronounced and emphasised hand and arm gestures fully accompanied by old-school cinematic special effects. Peals of Thunders and Lightning were appropriately produced while otherworld crashing sounds sonorously resonated in the air above us. And as he finished speaking, all these special effects suitably echoed and rolled off brilliantly into the distance, compounding into an eerie silence that seemed to envelop everything around us …!

As brilliant as all that was, I can only reference the GOD that revealed Himself to me!

I read the Bible as a broken person seeking the Truth of wholeness that will set me free! As I read GOD's Word, conviction falls upon me, and I believe the Good News (Greek for Gospel). My heart pounds within me, and I choose to believe the revelation of His Promised Christ – my Redeemer.

My heart leaps as I see that GOD was in Christ, but not as ‘all-powerful GOD’ … In His love for broken humanity (for you and me), He ‘emptied Himself’ and came to earth (and shared in our true human form). He chose to live amongst us in our human form, became subject to every temptation that affects us, but did not give in to temptation and then, rather than turn to us and say “Na na na na na”, instead showed us how not to give in to temptation either!

And He didn’t do any of this by just saying, “Right, I’ve shown you how to do it! Just follow my example and get on with it! He actually enabled us by giving us the same Holy Spirit He has so that we could live FREE!

(Jesus speaking), “Mary, don’t hold on to me now, for I haven’t yet ascended to God, my Father. And he’s not only my Father and God, but now he’s your Father and your God! ...I am ascending to my Father—and your Father, to my God—and your God!” (John‬ ‭20:17‬)
