“If we claim that we experience a shared life with him and continue to stumble around in the dark, we’re obviously lying through our teeth—we’re not living what we claim. (1 John 1:6)
Yesterday's words brought back a great memory from almost 40 years ago. I had just received the Lord as my Saviour by just a few weeks, and I was still trying to understand what it all meant when a young lady in our prayer group told of a vision she had just seen. This is her story.
"I saw Jesus walk into our prayer group, and then he walked past us into another room and beckoned me to follow him. This room was bare, apart from three women; each sat on a chair. The Lord walked up to the first woman, and as she saw him, her shoulders sagged, and she dissolved into tears. The Lord immediately knelt down beside her and held her closely as she seemed to sob her soul out onto his shoulders. I watched as, with trembling lips, she poured out her broken heart into his ears through her struggling breaths. I was truly moved by this unrestrained demonstration of extreme grief and sorrow and Heavenly love.
I watched as the Lord finally extricated himself from her, promising to return soon, and walked towards the second woman. This time, he just gently squeezed her shoulder. She looked up, and they both shared a beautifully loving smile, and he walked on towards the third woman.
This time, he didn't stop, smile or even acknowledge her. He just walked straight on past.
I was confused, and running up to him, I asked timidly, "Lord, what did she do wrong to deserve such a cold indifference?"
"My child, the Lord responded, "You have it all wrong. "The first woman has been very badly damaged and needs my support in order to repair her broken heart and soul. The second woman needs only a periodic acknowledgement of my presence as she gets on with what I've asked her to do, while the third woman is wholly in me; she knows my heart desires exactly and gets on with all I ask her, needing no encouragement at all as she dutifully performs my requests."
Truthfully... I know I've lived most of my life in the first chair (with the occasional stumbling foray into the second) ... Lord, please help me find my way into the third chair for Your Glory. Amen.
As usual, I've asked the Lord what He wants to say to you, and I believe He spoke this,
"I am the God of third and fourth and unlimited chances for My children who confess their faults and weaknesses, and come to Me for help..."
“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11)
