(For me) It’s easier to thank GOD when the sun is shining, my bank account is full, my health is good, I feel valued, etc, etc.

But when the clouds cover the sun, my bank account seems to be empty, my trousers don't fit around my waist, my shirt buttons are tight, and my wife starts to tell me some home truths …!

The thing is, the Truth of who GOD is (to me) should always motivate my actions – not my feelings!

GOD's Promise to "never leave me, never forsake me" (Heb 13.5), should be my security - in effect, he hasn’t left me to fend for myself (no matter what my circumstances scream at me), and this especially counts when I don’t ‘feel’ his presence!

Corrie Ten Boom beautifully wrote about giving thanks in all circumstances when she was forced to live in a flea-infested hut in a concentration camp - but looking back; it was the plague of fleas that kept the guards from entering the hut and molesting the ladies within! So, the easiest way back to life is as per the psalmist's instructions: find something, ‘anything’ that you feel grateful for and begin to thank our Heavenly Father for it.

"THEN your heart will overflow with life forever!"
