That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. (Rom 8:28).

This Scripture reminds me of a time when I was walking alongside a guy who was going through some really tough physical (and marital) issues. A few days later, he texted me to say that he’d spent the day at a beautiful Cathedral just listening and reading. He concluded his text with, “I also spent a long time talking with a lady. She was 80 years old and so alive… I could hardly speak without crying; the Spirit was so strong there…!”

Later, my friend joined a new church and sent me this text: “…we were encouraged to pray for any needs we had at Church today. I found myself praying about the biggest problem I have—ME! I realised at that moment how grumpy I was, critically watching the worship group, etc. It’s awful to realise how out of step with His ways you can become...!”

Lord – open my eyes to the who and what ‘I’ am!
