I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life.
I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!” (Psa 32:8)
I ran a Technology company once, and for many years we tried everything to get into a certain big business. Finally, we got an appointment to pitch to a big boss, and as we sat in reception waiting for this certain lady, we received notification that she was running extremely late. About 15 minutes later, an extremely distraught and angry woman appeared in reception; she was hysterically shouting at the security guards and then rushed through them towards the elevators and, after banging the elevator button constantly, disappeared.
As we all stared in consternation, I heard my Technical Director mumble, “That’s her…!”
A few minutes later the receptionist told us that she was sorry but she didn't want to see us due to a personal problem. My heart sank as we'd prepared long and hard for this day - and as we all rose to our feet to leave, I heard the Lord say, “Go and help her.”
Long story short, I called someone in the building I knew, and he mediated a meeting with her (and her staff) in the company canteen.
As we all sat drinking coffee in a very difficult atmosphere, she suddenly turned to me and, grabbing my arm, started sobbing onto my shoulder. “My brother has just been diagnosed with cancer,” she sobbed. “Why would GOD do that?”
Right in the face of both our watching teams, I told her how I’d met GOD through His Christ Jesus and how I’d always found Him Faithful. Through snot and tears, she opened up about how she used to have faith as a young woman, but the pressures of work and responsibilities had drawn her away.
We spoke for over an hour in the canteen (still in front of both teams - who by now must have been thinking that I was quite mad). Long story short, GOD intervened, and everything worked out great for all of us.
Thank You, Lord.
