(Ephesians 4:26) "Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behaviour], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down. And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harbouring resentment, or cultivating bitterness]."
Today, the Lord got me thinking about anger, its adverse effect on us, and how to overcome it.
Let me try and break the Scripture down:
- What happens when we hold a grudge
[we firmly grasp, carry or support the issue] - What happens when we nurture anger
[we care for and protect the anger while it steadily grows] - What happens when we harbour resentment
[we secretly keep a negative thought or feeling safe in our mind] - What happens when we cultivate bitterness
[we actually nurture the issue to help the problem grow]

Please pray with me, “Lord, forgive me for the times I have given in to anger, malice, wrath or fury. For when I have let my emotions get the better of me and lost control. Help me to extend grace to those who may have hurt or offended me, just as you have extended grace to me. Please help me receive self-control and peace because I no longer want to be trapped or consumed by anger. Your Word tells me that You will provide a way of escape [1 Corinthians 10:13].“ Amen
