(Philippians 2:8) “After He was found in [terms of His] outward appearance as a man [for a divinely-appointed time], He humbled Himself [still further] by becoming obedient [to the Father] to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also [because He obeyed and so completely humbled Himself], God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow [in submission], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess and openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord (sovereign God), to the glory of God the Father.”
Names are consequential to our Heavenly Father. For example, He values His good Name because it represents His Power, Character and Faithfulness.
So when you pray for anything to the One who has been given the Name above ALL names, you’re openly declaring that you’re no longer trusting in:
I'm no longer trusting in my own power (my flawed strength of will)
I'm no longer trusting in my own character (my flawed temperament)
I'm no longer trusting in my own faithfulness (my flawed adherence)
Instead, just as you declared when you stepped out of the baptism pool, you're forever trusting in His (Higher) Power, His (Higher) Character, and His (Higher) Faithfulness.
Holy Spirit, please touch the heart of whoever is reading this. Draw them into Your presence and show them that You continue to speak and answer prayers today. Amen.
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve those who are sick amongst us—such as Barbara and Ian fighting cancer. We also pray for a quick and complete healing for Keiron, Jay and Liliana. Please grant your healing power to those who minister to all the sick among us so they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
