"You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn through the sleepless nights, each tear entered in your ledger, each ache written in your book." (Ps 56:8)
We knew my mother was extremely ill and wanted to be with her before she went home to be with the Lord. Being with her was extremely difficult for us, especially as my mother would lapse in and out of strength and lucidity during that time.
One time, she asked me to fetch something from the top drawer of her dressing table. When I opened the drawer, I found it crammed full of trinkets, and one in particular caught my eye and brought back such joyful memories. It was a denim jean pocket that I had cut out when I was only about four or five years old, and on which I had sewn the words as best I could, "I love you, Mamma" in bright yellow letters.
When I brought this pocket to my mother, she held it to her heart, closed her eyes as if reliving the event herself, and said dreamily, "I love you, my son."
To me, this is now a great life analogy of the above Psalm. GOD loves us so much that He's kept track of our every toss and turn in this life. Each tear we've ever shed has been lovingly entered into His ledger—together with the reason—and each heart, mind, and body ache has been dutifully recorded in His book of life.
Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11) ❤️
NB - Thank you so much for your continuing prayer support for Jean's family. Ian has promised us an update, once he's had more tests by the end of the month.
Heavenly Father, giver of life and health: Comfort and relieve those who are sick amongst us, and give your power of healing to those who minister to their needs so that they may be strengthened in their weakness and have confidence in your loving care. We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏
