"As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you." (Isa 66:13)
I just received this tremendously poignant reminiscence of the love for a departed mother from my dear friend Julian Jackson and once I'd read the 'bottom line,' I couldn't resist sharing its heart-rending beauty with you all.
"When I think back to when I was 18, I’m not sure what my focus was - probably still getting over the disappointment that I wasn’t going to be a professional footballer as I'd hoped.
"I had a wonderfully encouraging woman in my life, though … my Mum.
"She was an angel that the Lord put in my life and guided me so much for my first 20 years.
"Then she was gone, and I went through a very dark time that I just couldn’t comprehend, and all I could do was to drink, mess around, and pathetically shout up to the heavens, "Why, why, why!?"
"It took another 30 years before I humbled myself and asked the Lord, are you real and if you are, please help me out, I need you.
"The first day I visited Kingdom Faith Church, I met a wonderful brother who took me through a prayer of salvation. My eyes poured out in joy, knowing I had been saved from all the la la of the past. As they say, the rest is history.
"Now that my eyes have been opened, I can see that our whole lives have so much meaning and purpose with Jesus in them.
"I want to end by sharing a short poem I read on my friend’s arm years ago (yes, it was a tattoo).
"The sweetest girl I ever kissed was another man’s wife - My Mother.
"Much love to you all - Julian
Our Heaven Father reminds me of Proverbs 31:26 "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." and Proverbs 31:31 ", Honour her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."
Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11)
