"... do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts and passions. (Rom 6:12)

My research is showing me that in the original Hebrew that the Old Testament was written in, there is more than one word for ‘sin.’

There is “Khata”, which means “to fail” or “to miss the goal.” What is the goal? The answer is on the first page of the Bible, which says we are all made in the image of GOD. So, because every human is a sacred being who represents the creator, they are worthy of respect. Khata is, therefore, a failure to love GOD and a failure to treat people with the honour they deserve.

There is also “Pesha,” which deals with a breach of trust, rebellion or rebellious act, transgression or transgressions, or trespass. It could more easily be understood as "a wilful transgression done to spite GOD.”

There’s also "Avon" that’s called ‘iniquity.’ The word iniquity is particularly interesting because it breaks up into three letters in the original Hebrew: AVAV, ABET and ANUN.

AVAV = an eye being opened

ABET = a fishhook

ANUN = multiplication

And so, in its pictorial form, the word iniquity really means whatever your eye lingers on (hooks into) will multiply in your life! So, if we’re constantly beholding (and imbibing) junk, then all that junk will certainly affect our lives. But if, like Jesus, we’re actively seeking to behold the Glory of GOD, then this will certainly transform us for the better.

If you’re trying to grow wheat (but your seed bag is mixed with weed seeds), then take responsibility for whatever is growing in your life (and multiplying)! Turn to GOD and confess the ‘sin’ that has been given access to your life because of where you’ve focussed your attention (i.e. whatever I set my vision on, my affection on, my appetite on – because that’s growing in my life) and PRAY!

Lord, please remove this hook from my life and help me never eat of it again … Thank you, Father, for setting me free. Amen!

Our Heaven Father is saying, “For what the Law could not do [that is, overcome sin and remove its penalty, its power] being weakened by the flesh [man’s nature without the Holy Spirit], God did: He sent His own Son in the likeness of sinful man as an offering for sin. And He condemned sin in the flesh [subdued it and overcame it in the person of His own Son],” (Rom 8:3)

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11) ❤️
