(Jesus speaking) … You have your heads in your Bibles constantly because you think you’ll find eternal life there. But you miss the forest for the trees. These Scriptures are all about me! And here I am, standing right before you… (John‬ ‭5:39)

This reminds me of a time when our Church used to send a group of students to the local Detention Centre. On one such occasion, we were all waiting at the Church for transportation to arrive and began praying in a circle by the door when a young woman walked up to us. She was in her mid to late thirties and looked a bit worse for wear - maybe she'd been drinking and maybe it was the consequence of drugs.

Nonetheless, she was persistently looking for a hand-out and even though people screwed their eyes closed tight and kept praying, she wouldn't let up and continually badgered each one of us in turn.

I remember the Lord distinctly saying to me, "Don't think by discounting her needs and then putting on your 'Christian faces' and acting all holy as you drive off to the Detention Centre that I won't notice. Now, help her."

We turned up late to the Centre, but it was well worth it ...

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,Look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His Glory and Grace.

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11)
