(Jesus speaking) “Let me set this before you as plainly as I can. If a person climbs over or through the fence of a sheep pen instead of going through the gate, you know he’s up to no good—a sheep rustler! The shepherd walks right up to the gate. The gatekeeper opens the gate to him and the sheep recognize his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he gets them all out, he leads them and they follow because they are familiar with his voice. They won’t follow a stranger’s voice but will scatter because they aren’t used to the sound of it.” (John‬ ‭10:1)

It seems as if I've been having the "I wish I could hear Jesus as you do" conversation more and more often lately.

The thing is, Jesus’s voice can be 'audible', but mostly, it’s an inward reality. The best way I can describe it is that (to me) it’s a voice that won’t try and dominate - or even replace the voices of the ‘things’ that currently hold our attention.

In effect, it's a voice that wants to help us make the right choice, to ‘choose‘ the right path…

And it all begins by praying something as simple as "Lord, I choose this day to quiet my heart and hear You – to hear Your Direction, Your Counsel, Your Wisdom. Amen."

“Are your ears awake? Listen. Listen to the Wind Words, the Spirit blowing through the churches. Christ-conquerors are safe from Devil-death.” (Rev 2:11)
