The words of the wise prod us to live well. They’re like nails hammered home, holding life together. They are given by God, the one Shepherd. But regarding anything beyond this, dear friend, go easy. There’s no end to the publishing of books, and constant study wears you out so you’re no good for anything else.

The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you. (Ecc 12:11)

Whenever I see the words ‘fear GOD,’ I remember the testimony a young girl once gave.

Basically, the story was that some of her friends were trying to entice her to go the 'extra mile’ after a school party, but she stood her ground and said no!

They then started teasing her, saying, “Oh, are you afraid your Dad will hurt you?” And she replied, “Actually, quite the opposite - I’m afraid that ‘I’ might hurt my Dad!”

To me, fearing GOD doesn’t mean that I’m tiptoeing around constantly, scared of judgement – I just don’t want to hurt my heavenly Papà through my stupid actions.
