Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” (Mat 28:18)

As I understand it, the Greeks define their word 'Bapto' to mean a quick dip, whereas 'Baptizo' means total immersing, i.e. the immersion of fruit or vegetables to be pickled.

Simply put, if a cucumber was left in a pickling solution, then we all know it would end up as what we’d all call a gherkin. But if it could jump out straight away, then it would remain just a cucumber – (albeit one smelling of vinegar and spices).

The bottom line is we've got so much la la to go through on a daily basis that we ALL need Jesus as a 24/7 requirement - a true BAPTIZO!

So we’re not just called to have a one-off ‘Bapto’ in Christ Jesus - we’re called to ‘remain’ in Him. In His soothing Presence. In a close relationship.

Lord, help me to stay put ‘in You!’ To quit jumping out of where you want me to be and be the Child you created me to be! Amen!
