Be quick to give a meal to the hungry, a bed to the homeless—cheerfully. (‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:8)

Reading this brought to mind a blessing in my life that I’d have missed if I’d had my own way!

I was rushing up to the office after a particularly difficult train journey into London and managed to grab a coffee en route when I walked (actually rushed) past a guy in a doorway who was huddled up in his big coat and crying.

I must have managed about 50 yards before the Holy Spirit reigned me in and forced me back!

It turned out that here was a guy who’d had a stupid argument with his wife (in Scotland), it had gone too far, and he’d run away and gotten ‘lost!’ He’d awoken this morning in a doorway in London to find he’d been mugged and robbed – even of his shoes and socks!

Long story short, he got sorted and other than the 20 minute desperate telephone call to his wife, breakfast, socks and shoes it had only cost me ‘time!’ But the Glory GOD got that day was priceless!

For us, GOD's timing often feels like a long, desperate delay. GOD's perfect timing does two things: It grows our faith as we are forced to wait and trust in GOD and it makes certain that He, and He alone, gets the Glory and praise for pulling us through. "My times are in Your hands ..." Psalm 31:15.
