Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed.
The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. (Jas 5:16)
Problems at home… Work... Health... Finances… People… Stress...
I lost it big time a while ago through stress. My wife had gotten something online, and she'd forgotten that it needed to be returned that day; otherwise, we'd have to pay and keep it. So I had to drive into town - it was 3:30, and the kids were all leaving school. After driving around and around because all my usual parking places were full, I ended up parking at a supermarket (which had just decided to change the way it charged its customers for parking so that you had to go into the shop, buy something to the value of £10, then get a special barcode for the parking machines...). All VERY frustrating!
Anyway, I finally get to the drop-off place, and after queuing behind loads of kids that wanted ice cream and gum and, and, and... the assistant finally tells me that they can't accept the item without a specifically printed tag! "I'm terribly sorry, sir," says the man. "This particular company make it very difficult to return their goods..."
I am NOT happy, and thinking that I now have to re-trace all my steps to go back home and then come back before 5:00 pm pushes me right over the edge, and before I can stop it, I give my mouth reign and let the poor man have both barrels!
I drove home in a rage - NOT with the stupid parcel, but now with myself!
I stupidly failed to see what was happening. I managed to get back just before closing time, and the shop was packed. The man saw me in the queue and obviously didn't want to face me again, so he told me to just leave the parcel with the newly printed tag on one side and leave - but I couldn't - I had to wait in my place in the queue and apologise...!
Yes, it would have been so much easier to have just taken his advice, dumped the parcel and run away, but going back and apologising to the man I’d upset felt so much better than the old days of ‘keeping it all in’ and justifying my stupid childish actions to myself.
Thank You, Jesus, for Your Life Lessons.
