While he (Jesus) was saying these things, some woman lifted her voice above the murmur of the crowd: “Blessed the womb that carried you, and the breasts at which you nursed!”
Jesus commented, “Even more blessed are those who hear God’s Word and guard it with their lives!” (Luke 11:27)
This got me thinking about how we define, and guard with our lives, those things we regard as ‘treasure.’
Yes, there's gold, or diamonds, or peals, etc., but do these ‘things’ bring life when death threatens? Can these ‘things’ bring comfort when grief strikes?
If I was a betting man, I'd bet that almost all of those reading this would be at a point of decision at some point in their life. Most of you have prayed (even if it was just a groan), and what are we waiting for in reality ... one Word from GOD!
Even Google is smart enough to tell us why we don't hear clearly: Sometimes people allow shame, condemnation or a sense of unworthiness to make them feel as though they are separated from God—and therefore, unable to hear His voice (Romans 8:1-2). We need to remember that for Christians, the barrier of sin separating us from God has already been dealt with on the cross.
Even Google knows how to hear from GOD: In John 10:27, Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” Every single believer knows the voice of GOD; it's just whether or not they actually attribute it to GOD.
Lord, please open my ears and the eyes of my heart to You ...
