(Jesus speaking) “Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults—unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbour’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this whole travelling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbour." (Mat (7:1)

A long time ago, my mother suffered a pretty severe heart attack. At the time, she owned a newsagent shop, and as she was on her own, I took the early shift each day (4 to 7am) and gathered and sorted all the newspapers each day until the morning staff arrived.

This was at the time when a young boy of only 2 (James Patrick Bulger) from Kirkby, Merseyside, England, was abducted, tortured and killed by two 10-year-old boys.

It wasn’t terrorists or white supremacists, but it certainly rocked everyone’s world! I remember that with all the Media furore splashed all over every daily paper; it became so easy to hate these boys for what they’d done! Then at Christmas, I had my first-ever migraine. I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t talk, I couldn’t function! I ended up almost catatonic for three days, just lying down and sobbing in pain.

Then on the third day, I heard the Lord say: “Why have you let this anger and evil come into your life, just look at what it has done to you?” I apologised for allowing this hatred into my life, and as suddenly as the migraine came, all the pain lifted, and understanding dawned. I am not here to judge others - the judging of evil is GOD’s job. I am purely here to reveal His Grace and show that His people can die to sin by following Jesus along GOD's Path of Righteousness.
