Is anything too hard for GOD? (Gen 18:14)
It’s Boxing Day, and we’ve all got a few minutes spare, so let’s play a game … grab a piece of paper and write down a list of everything you want GOD to do for you in 2023. (I’m not talking about an end to COVID, or World Peace…), this is just about YOU!
Now, look at the list again and remember – GOD knows your heart, He knows what’s really on your mind, so go back to the list and underline all the things that you really, really, REALLY want GOD to do for you...!
Finished? Good. So assuming that we all have a list of about 10/20+ items, let’s mark each one of them out of 10 as to what we believe GOD will answer…
Now we’re left with one of a few options, we can either:
(A) Recognise that GOD has seen our deepest needs/ wants, but we should rather dampen down the rising hope because, in the scheme of things, the things we've asked for are far too unimportant to ever come about.
(B) Judge the importance of the items on the list but see them being weighed on a scale against the things in your life that you actually don‘t want to quit (overeating, cigarettes, toxic relationships, overspending); if this is the case then your requests aren’t ever going to hit the ceiling, much less reach His heart!
(C) Harden our hearts to Him, and work to achieve all that’s on the list with ways that are ‘our own!’ Huffily deciding that there are lots of dating sites, financial institutions, good doctors that might somehow help…!
(D) Try and ramp up our Faith – maybe we’ll pray longer or harder, try and read our Bible, or watch less secular TV, or ….?
(E) Or maybe we should just go back to worshipping the ‘lottery’ god, the one who’ll maybe feel sorry for us and get around to helping us, (when [or if] he can ever be bothered)?
When all is said and done, it’s Faith in GOD and His Supernatural Abilities that motivates His response and recognition of His Love and Goodness that opens the door to His Heart and Blessings.
Once we recognise our need(s), and where we are, and humbly accept the course changes required to get us back on track, we can easily delete each and every item on the list and then JOYFULLY answer the question “Is anything too hard for GOD?” With a strong and heartfelt - NO!
